What is a One Pager for startup investment?

As its name suggests, it is a document in which you must show the most relevant information of your startup summarized on one page.

A startup’s One Pager should have a visual form that attracts attention and shows the information in a clear way.

Remember that a One Pager is the business card of your Saas to the investor.

How to create a One Pager Saas?

A One Pager must contain the following essential points:

  1. Name, logo and web link of your startup.
  2. Who are the founders, highlighting the CEO.
  3. Team
  4. Cap Table
  5. Main metrics of the specific business model.

Let’s go into a little more detail

One Pager Startup Template

Team

HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU ARE?

It is important to detail who makes up the project, as this gives them information on how you got to this point. Having a team of professionals with a relevant business chronology will help to capture the interest of investors. Remember that they are looking for skilled teams, so it is essential to convey that there is no better team to execute the project.

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Number of people who are directly part of the project including the CEO, being able to specify the generic profile.
  • Names and Surnames.
  • You can add investors or mentors who are currently in the business.

Cap Table

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF CONTROL DO THE FOUNDING PARTNERS HAVE?

The Cap Table consists of expressing the distribution of a company’s shares. It is important that it is well structured.

One of the things an investor will look for after assessing that the project has potential and that its general aspects are well aligned, is that the founding team has enough equity to not dilute itself too much in future rounds.

Mainly the information an investor is interested in is:

  • Percentage of equity held by the founding team.
  • Percentage of equity held by investors.
  • Percentage of ESOP to be allocated.

Equity Story

FINANCING OF THE STARTUP TO DATE

This is the financing and investment information from previous rounds.

We will include the following information:

  • Historical financing.
  • Size of the current round.
  • Money committed to the current round (if you have relevant investors who have confirmed that they will invest in this round it is advisable to put their logos/names).

Business Model — Value Proposition

We will specify the type of business model to explain how it is billed or how it will be billed. We must take into account that there are investors with preferences for sectors and business models, so it is important to make this clear.

The business model may change over time.

In this section we will include the following information:

  • Sector
  • Business model (e.g. SaaS, Marketplace, E-commerce…)
  • Short description of what the startup does in a clear and understandable way for any person.

Monetization model

DETAILS HOW WE MAKE MONEY

Customers. Describe the niche you are targeting and specify the SME you are focusing on.

Monetization. Explain in a simple way the monetization and pricing model, in case there are several models, specify what percentage comes from each model.

Unit Economics

DESCRIBES THE DIRECT REVENUES AND COSTS PER UNIT

This helps the investor to know your earnings per transaction allowing them to see if you are below, above or at the market average.

You should include the following information:

  • LTV/CAC
  • LTV
  • Specific CAC according to the peculiarities of the business: Sales team, marketing…

Billing

The investor is interested in knowing your sales and projections. We will include the following information:

  • Start of sales, indicate month and year.
  • Turnover for the previous year, specify whether you are talking about GMV or net sales if your model requires it.
  • Accumulated turnover for the current year.
  • Forecast turnover for the current year.
